Lodovico Ughi’s Venice map, an original document of 128 x 177 cm from 1729, is an impressive piece of artistic, scientific and documentary significance. With high detail, the map is composed by eight sheets, arranged in two rows, featuring besides the city map, a set of special elements: a large wind rose, a poem from Jacopo Sannazaro in the hands of a putto, an allegory of Venice based on a drawing by Sebastiano Ricci, a composition with the insignia of the Morosini’s family, and a label with the dedication of the author to the doge Aloysio Mocenigo. On the sides, sixteen small views of the city by the painter Carlevarijs, and finally, on the bottom, the description of the city.
