Libuše Niklová

Libuše Niklová (1934–1981) was a pioneering Czech toy designer whose innovative creations became landmarks of 20th-century design. Known for her imaginative use of colour, form and materials, she developed a distinctive visual language that transformed simple toys into expressive and memorable objects.

 

Throughout her career, Niklová designed more than 230 toys, including rubber figurines, accordion animals and inflatable characters that combined playfulness with thoughtful design. Her work has been recognised internationally and is represented in prestigious collections such as the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague.
