Designed by Bruno Munari and Giovanni Belgrano, Images of reality contains 40 cards with photographs which feature a number of subjects seen from various points of view and in several ways. A shoe, a hand, a fish or a lightbulb can look very different if we observe them from different perspectives, or if we see them as changing objects, where the name is only one of the many possible representations. Comparing realistic colour photography to black and white photography, the photographic negative and the last step of the written word (in six languages: Italian, English, French, German, Spanish and Japanese), the game stimulates the learning of the differences between real objects and their representations.

Description

Bruno Munari (1907-1998) has been one of the protagonists of 20th-century art, design and graphics. He always dedicated his creative activity to experimentation, with a particular attention to the world of children and their games and toys. Never separating content from form and materials, what he designed were at once books, book-objects and games that would make us think. His works in the fields of painting, sculpture, design, photography and didactics cross their poetics following the path of his very personal inventiveness.

    Eight Sequences to Put in Order

    Designed in 1976 by Bruno Munari and Giovanni Belgrano, the game contains 52 cards that form eight sequences of images to be logically ordered: the sequences are made up of 3 to 10 cards, in an increasing order of difficulty. A little bird coming out of a cage, a house under construction, a plant that grows leaves and blooms: each card, corresponding to a passage in succession, contains different pieces of information which serve as clues to be interpreted, from the colour of the apple that ripens to the position of the sun in the sky. Each image leads to the reconstruction of the sequence and its meaning, training the child’s ability to form logical bonds. Starting from the fundamental idea of the game − the search for the right card to carry the series forward − you can invent many ways of using the cards, even in groups.     Designed by Bruno Munari and Giovanni Belgrano in 1975, Transformations is composed of 60 cards to be placed horizontally or vertically to create sequences of always new and unique images. Animals seen from near and far, leaves and roots of trees, flowers, acorns can be combined in many different ways, assembling and disassembling them. One card after another, you can take endless directions, for example climbing from an underground den to the sky in a journey full of surprises. Concordant lines are joined lines, curves or straight, where it is not possible to detect the point of union. The game is made by 60 pieces manufactured by high quality colored cardboard that con be used by all the ages in order to develop concentration, association, manual skill and imagination through the creation of bi-dimensional compositions.
