Eight Sequences to Put in Order
What if every image contained a clue to what comes next?
Eight Sequences to Put in Order is a beautifully designed educational game that invites children to observe, interpret, and connect visual clues to reconstruct eight different sequences. From a little bird leaving its cage to a house being built or a plant growing and blooming, each sequence tells a story through a series of carefully designed images.
Designed in 1976 by Bruno Munari and Giovanni Belgrano, the game contains 52 cards forming eight sequences, ranging from 3 to 10 cards and increasing gradually in difficulty. Each image contains details that provide clues to the next step — from the changing colour of a ripening apple to the position of the sun in the sky. By observing these details and putting the cards in the right order, children learn to recognise relationships, understand progression, and build logical connections.
The game starts with a simple challenge: find the right card to continue the sequence. But there is no single way to play. The cards can also be used to create stories, invent new ways of sequencing, or play collaboratively in groups, making Otto Sequences an open-ended tool for learning through observation and play.
Suitable for one or more players aged 3 to 7, the game transforms everyday events and visual details into an engaging exercise in logical thinking and imagination.
