The Fable Game
What if a story had no beginning, no ending, and no rules about how it should be told?
The Fable Game is an open-ended world of animals, plants, characters, and endless stories, where nothing is fixed and every new combination can create a different adventure. Instead of simply reading a story, children can build it, take it apart, and create it again in countless different ways.
The game is made up of animal and plant pieces that can be freely fitted together to create scenes, characters, and imaginary worlds. A creature can change shape, a landscape can become a story, and an entirely new character can appear simply by combining pieces in a different way.
There are no predetermined stories and no single way to play. Children can invent their own fables, build a world and give it a story, or simply experiment with the pieces and see where their imagination takes them. It can be enjoyed alone, with friends, or together as a family, making every play session a new creative adventure.
The elegant and instantly recognisable visual language of Enzo Mari gives the game its distinctive character. Originally published in 2004, The Fable Game reflects Mari's belief in simple forms and open-ended play, where imagination is not limited by predetermined outcomes.
