How many different ways can you represent the same thing?

Images of Reality invites children to discover that the world around us can be seen and represented in many different ways. A shoe, a hand, a fish, or a lightbulb can look completely different depending on the perspective, technique, or form of representation used.

Designed by Bruno Munari and Giovanni Belgrano, the game contains 40 cards featuring photographs of everyday objects and subjects shown from different points of view and through different forms of representation. From realistic colour photography to black and white images, photographic negatives, and finally the written word, each card offers a new way of looking at the same reality.

Through play, children learn to recognise what different representations have in common and what makes each one unique. The game encourages them to observe, compare, classify, and establish logical connections between images and the objects they represent.

There are several ways to play. Children can match an object's name to its corresponding image, identify an object from different representations, or find the odd one out in a series of images. The 12 blank cards also invite children to create their own representations, adding an open-ended and creative dimension to the game.

Designed for one or more players aged 3 to 6, Images of Reality turns visual observation into a playful introduction to the relationship between objects, images, and language.
