Explore Paris as it was in 1728 through this beautifully detailed historical map, designed by the abbot Jean Delagrive (1689–1757).

At the time, the French capital was still surrounded by fields, while parts of the city centre remained undeveloped. The map's title block, in the top right corner, features the title and the author's name, surrounded by allegorical and mythological figures.

Among them are Pity and Justice, as well as Minerva, Neptune, Mercury and Venus, bringing an artistic and symbolic dimension to this fascinating portrait of Paris.
